Description:
This is our House in Baltimore. I have completed most of the renovations myself over the past ten years.  I have had a lot of help from contractors, friends, and family along the way.  The house is a row home in the Federal Hill neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland.  It was built in 1865 and renovated badly in the mid 1980's.  There were two driving design principles for the project.  The first was pragmatic.  Because row homes can only receive light on two facades and are generally long and narrow in plan they tend to have many light deprived spaces.  After doing multiple light studies with physical models we found that opening up the front, and south facing, portion of the interior allowed the front face to act as a general light source for the entire house.
